Immersive Spatial Audio — interactive demo
17 scenes of 360° video with first-order ambisonic (FOA) audio generated per sounding object and mixed into a single B-format track. The soundfield rotates against your view, so sources stay anchored to the world as you look around.
Headphones recommended.
Controls
Click a scene to make it live; click again to stop. Only one plays at a time. On-screen W/A/S/D buttons work too, and ⤢ expands the perspective view.
Two layouts
Panorama + view — the panorama on the left with the current viewport drawn on it, that view rendered on the right, and audio that follows where you look.
Grid — two tiles per row, each looping silently; click one to make it live.
Notes
media/<scene>/foa_audio.wav is the actual output: 4-channel ambisonics, ACN/SN3D ordering [W, Y, Z, X]. The .mp4 carries a stereo downmix only as a fallback for players that cannot decode ambisonics — this page ignores it and decodes the FOA directly.
Left/right are produced by a sub-cardioid virtual pair aimed at ±60°, rotated by the current view. Note that this project encodes +Y as right, mirrored from textbook ACN/SN3D where +Y points left; encoder and decoder agree throughout, but interop with other ambisonic tools needs the flip.
